Description

English 20F is a foundation course which focuses on further developing a student’s English language arts skills. Students enrolled in this course have the opportunity to experience both fiction and non-fiction texts. The assignments will include a variety of tasks designed to strengthen a student’s ability to:

Explore thoughts and ideas
Comprehend and respond personally to texts
Manage ideas and information
Strengthen the clarity and artistry of communication
Function comfortably as a member of an academic/learning community

Description

English 30S fosters literacy skills that help students lead reflective and effective lives. It deepens their engagement with texts and their understanding of themselves and the world around them. It teaches students to think critically and independently and provides them with the practical skills they need to deal with the demands of an information-based society.

Description

English 40S Comprehensive focuses on how the English language functions to inform, persuade and to entertain. Students enrolled in this course have the opportunity to experience both fiction and non-fiction texts. Student assignments vary from written to visual forms. Students in 40S Comprehensive will also be given the opportunity to face and conquer any fears they may have toward public speaking. Please note that one credit for English 40S is necessary for your Grade 12 diploma. Students enrolled in 40S English may participate in the ELA provincial exam.
