Description: In this elective course, you will have the opportunity to develop your legal knowledge and understanding, as well as skills in thinking and inquiry. This introduction to the Canadian legal system will cover criminal law, the youth justice system, family law, civil disputes, torts and contract law. By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the purpose, history and system of law in Canada
  • Identify the divisions of law and the main concepts behind each kind of law
  • Develop arguments to support and defend an opinion on legal issues and cases
